How good is the new Duke Nukem?

Is this a good game for people who have been fans of Duke for a long time, or is just overall pretty terrible? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this one but they seem to all be bashing how racy Duke is, which is one the things that has always made him so great. How is the game overall though? I'd like to hear from first time players of Duke and fans.
